Huge crash mars Le Mans 24 Hour Race

Anthony Davidson is lucky. Five hours into the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, Davidson's Toyota made contact with the Ferrari driven by Italy's Piergiuseppe Perazzini, causing the Brit's car to somersault into the air and eventually nose first into a barricade. According to BBC Sport, Davidson was taken to an area hospital where he is alert and OK.

"Doctors at the circuit have confirmed that Anthony is suffering from shock and back pain," Toyota said in a release. "However, there are no signs of any injuries and he is walking and talking with no problems."

The Le Mans 24 Hour Race, which dates back to 1923, is the world's oldest endurance race. Teams of at least three take turns driving, with the winning team being determined by which one completes the most laps in the 24-hour time period. Run on the 8.5-mile Circuit de la Sarthe, heavy impacts are not uncommon. Last year, Allan McNish was lucky to survive this accident.

Reports: Danica Patrick?s hauler involved in highway wreck

Reports via Twitter are indicating that Danica Patrick's merchandise hauler was involved in a wreck Thursday afternoon on Interstate 80. The hauler was presumably en route to Pocono for this weekend's race, even though Patrick is not participating.

The first reports of a wreck involving Patrick's hauler began surfacing at about 6pm ET Thursday night, with Twitter users reporting the wreck. (The hauler, obviously, is hard to miss.) The above picture began circulating around mid-morning Friday via SB Nation's Jeff Gluck.

Two points: this is her merchandise hauler, not the one which holds her race cars. Second, as we don't know the cause of the wreck or the extent of any injuries, we'll refrain from making any jokes. (Yes, yes, we know the obvious ones. Still, sit tight.)

V-12 Mercedes-Powered Shelby Cobra is Pure Auto Perfection

To say we absolutely love every Shelby Cobra to death is an understatement. This also breeds a little hatred in our hearts for those that take a hacksaw to them and start modifying stuff. However, here are some modifications to Shelby Cobras that we can stomach and some that we completely fall in love with at first sight. Magnis Jinstrand?s modified Shelby Cobra just happens to fall squarely in the latter classification?

This beautiful example of automotive genius boasts a disgustingly sexy 6.0-liter Mercedes V-12 with an equally disgusting loud-mouthed supercharger strapped to its intake. There?s no information on the power pushed out by this mean machine, but judging by the above video, we would have to estimate it to be in the 700-horsepower range.

The exposed supercharger really just does it for us. Not only does it look awesome, but it is about the only whining that I can say I want to hear while driving a car. This blower obliges by providing plenty of it in audible goodness.

We are unsure what other modifications this Cobra has on it and we are also unsure if this is actually a real AC Cobra or not. Chances are that it?s a kit car sitting on a custom chassis, especially given how well it handles. Regardless of its authenticity, it is still one sexy beast. We will update you if we happen to come up with any of the vehicle?s specs. Until then, crank your speakers up and enjoy.

Video: Jay Leno drives the 2013 Scion FR-S

Finally, the review we all have been waiting for! In the latest episode of "Jay Leno’s Garage," Leno was able to get behind the wheel of the brand new Scion FR-S and was kind enough to share his opinions with us! Leno wasn’t alone, of course. Scion also sent over their vice president and general manager, Jack Hollis, to answer a series of questions about the FR-S.

As a reminder, the Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0-liter front boxer engine that can also be found on the Toyota GT 86 and the Subaru BRZ. The engine delivers a total of 200 HP and 151 lb/ft of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. What?s unique about this new powertrain is that it carries Toyota?s new D-4S injection system, a technology that results in direct injection combined with port injection. With separate twin injectors for both direct and port injection, and a high compression ratio of 12.5:1, the D-4S system can increase the power and torque bands of the FR-S over a wide range of engine speeds, all without having to sacrifice the sports coupe?s fuel efficiency numbers.

The Scion FR-S is now on sale and is priced from $24,930.

Kyle Busch wins Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway

Kyle Busch took advantage of the misfortune of Kasey Kahne and Clint Bowyer and won the 8th annual Feed the Children Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway on Wednesday night, outrunning race host and organizer Tony Stewart over the final 16 laps.

If you were a Sprint Cup Series fan who found yourself wondering how much you would pay for a caution flag at certain points during the season's first 13 races, you certainly got your money's worth if you bought the late model dirt-track charity race on Pay-Per-View. The first half of the 40 lap feature was marred by caution after caution, including an eight car crash on the frontstretch on the third scored lap.

Kahne started on the pole and relinquished the lead to Bowyer, last year's winner, on lap 13. When Kahne went to get the lead back from Bowyer just a few laps later, he slid up into Bowyer's car trying to clear him. The contact sent Bowyer's car into the wall, and eventually into the garage after he got into the wall again on the next lap.

However, Kahne was the next car to find trouble. On lap 24, Bobby Labonte spun around and his car stopped in the high lane of turn 3, the preferred groove around the racetrack. Kahne swerved his car hard to the left in an attempt to avoid the parked Labonte, but ended up slamming into the driver's side of Labonte's car hard enough to rip his right front wheel completely off. (Both drivers were unhurt.)

Those events handed the lead to Busch, who started first with 16 laps to go and never relinquished the lead. By the time Stewart had moved from fifth to second, Busch already had an insurmountable advantage.

Danica Patrick, who drives for Stewart in the Sprint Cup Series, turned the first laps of her professional driving career on dirt on Wednesday. Patrick hit the wall during her heat race before the main feature and finished three laps down in 15th during the feature race.

Kurt Busch, suspended by NASCAR for Sunday's race at Pocono, was entered in the event and started on the pole for the fourth heat race before the feature but was caught up in two incidents in the heat race. The damage to his car was severe enough that he was unable to race in the main event.

Full results are below. Each of the race's top 10 finishers will have a food truck donated for Feed the Children in the city of their choice.
