Ford unveiled the facelift version of their Fiesta at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, but U.S. customers will have to wait a bit longer to enjoy the updated compact car. Until then, all we can do is enjoy this very cool tuning kit that B-Spec Magazine is about to unveil at the 2012 SEMA Show.
For their Fiesta project, the guys over at B-Spec Magazine tried to combine form and function in order to obtain a car that will make heads turn, even if it’s just at the show. The only details we have on the car at this point is that it will be painted in a Candy Blue and will feature an audio system that you’ll be able to both hear and feel. There will also be a pretty cool aerodynamic package that makes the car look more aggressive than ever.
Under the hood, there is a 1.6 liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. We don’t know just yet if the engine has received any power updates, but we doubt there will be any more push for a build like this.

Kahn Design is keeping busy releasing a new tuning program every week. So far, they have been focusing on Land Rover models, but this week’s package du jour is for the Porsche Cayenne 3.0 Diesel.
Kahn started by adding a very cool aerodynamic package which includes vented front and rear wide wheel arches with integrated front and rear air dams, a lower boot lid spoiler, and exterior Kahn enamel wing shields. The door handles are finished in matte black, while the brake calipers are finished in liquid gold. They have also opted to put in LED daytime running lights for the front wheel arch vents and privacy tinted glass. The final element of the exterior package is a new set of 22" Kahn RS wheels finished in a color chosen by the customer. There is also a sports lowering module which provides the car with a sportier appearance.
For the interior, the package adds black and carbon quilted and perforated leather with ivory contrast stitching, a black and carbon quilted leather center glovebox, a red and cream colored speedo and rev counter facia, and balck charcoal finish floor mats.

Five Axis usually prepares some of the most amazing tuning packages for the SEMA Auto Show, and judging from the first details we have on their Lexus LS F-Sport, it looks like this year won’t be an exception.
Their Lexus LS 460 F Sport project is painted in a custom titanium matte finish and sits on a new set of custom alloy wheels size 22x9.0" at the front and 22x10.5" at the back. The exterior should be high;y recognizable to all considering it was inspired by the GS F Sport by Five Axis unveiled last year at the same show. The exterior kit will include huge fender vents and a new diffuser integrated into the rear bumper, among many other things. Five Axis also installed an AirRunner TC-5 air suspension system that will lower the car and will provide a sportier appearance.
Under the hood, Five Axis kept the usual 4.6-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 386 HP and 367 lb-ft of torque.

As the pack hurtled into turn three on the final lap Sunday afternoon at Talladega, a top 10 was looking out of reach for points leader Brad Keselowski, who was buried back in the pack on the inside line. And then when leader Tony Stewart made contact with Michael Waltrip, carnage ensued and chaos erupted.
The moment that Stewart spun off of Waltrip's front fender, Keselowski was the 23rd car in line. But remember, he was on the inside line; that turned out to be an extremely important detail, because it allowed Keselowski to immediately dive onto the apron of the track, where he missed most of the melee. As he was almost through, he was hit from behind by Bobby Labonte, but managed to keep the car pointed towards the start finish line.
He finished 7th.
That 16 position gain and the blows that his closest pursuers took in the final lap crash means that Keselowski leaves Talladega (unofficially) 14 points ahead of Jimmie Johnson and 23 points ahead of Denny Hamlin, a gain of nine points on Johnson and four on Hamlin.
Last year after the fourth race of the Chase, Kyle Busch was 20 points behind then-leader Carl Edwards; in eighth place. The top three were separated by four points, and eventual champion Tony Stewart was 19 points back in seventh place.
So yes, Keselowski has a significantly stronger hand than Edwards did at this time last year, and perhaps more importantly, he has five fewer drivers within a half a race than Edwards did -- Kasey Kahne is 36 points back in fourth.
Who's up? That's Jeff Gordon, who got his third straight top three finish after he turned his car on the apron and held his foot to the floor to avoid the crash ahead of him and finish second. While Gordon only made up six points on the points lead thanks to Keselowski's seventh place finish, he passed four drivers in the points standings, and is now ahead of Stewart by a point for sixth place.
Who's upside down? This one could go to a lot of drivers, but it has to be Tony Stewart, who went from potentially gaining 25 points on Keselowski and being within single digits of the top of the heap to being 46 points behind in seventh place thanks to his crazy upside down ride on the cars of Kahne, Clint Bowyer and Paul Menard. Honorable mention for the spot goes to Bowyer, who lost 15 points to Keselowski because of the crash too.
Who's out? Unfortunately for race-winner Matt Kenseth, the win didn't do him much good in the points standings; he's still 12th. But the biggest loser amidst Sunday's pileup was Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is now in 11th, 51 points behind Keselowski. (A loss of 12 points from the previous week.) We'll go ahead and make this group anyone who is more than a full race's worth of points out of the lead, so Kevin Harvick, and Greg Biffle, who are both 49 points out of the lead, can go ahead and start turning out the lights too.

If you're like us around here, you greeted the recent rumors of an impending worldwide bacon shortage with a mixture of sadness and sheer terror. A world without bacon is not a world we want to live in, friends.
But fear not! Aric Almirola and Richard Petty Motorsports are teaming with Gwaltney this weekend at Talladega to dispute such fearmongering reports.
"It's great timing to have Gwaltney on our car this week with all this talk about a bacon shortage," Almirola said. "We kind of joke about the rumors and people are calling it the 'Aporkalypse,' but it's actually a serious matter that affects farmers across the country. It was a rough summer with the drought and we all hope that everyone recovers from it financially. But for this race week, we're here to assure race fans that they don't have to worry about the bacon case at the grocery store being empty. Gwaltney will be there, no matter what."
Almirola and Gwaltney put their bacon where their mouths are on Saturday by distributing 600 pounds of bacon in the garage. And it's a good thing they put that news out after the fact; "free bacon" is an incitement to riot in most parts of the South.
Almirola will start Sunday's Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 in 18th position, which at Talladega means absolutely nothing. If he wins, Almirola hasn't exactly promised bacon for all, but it'll be a victory for the forces of bacon nonetheless.

Casey Stoner has dominated the first day of practice at Phillip Island. After leading FP1 by nine tenths of a second, the Repsol Honda man dished up more of the same in the afternoon, ending the session just under nine tenths ahead of his teammate Dani Pedrosa. Stoner's pace was unrelenting, regularly lapping in the 1'30s, just dipping into the 1'29s towards the end of the session, already under the race lap record set by Nicky Hayden back in 2008.
Dani Pedrosa found a little more pace in the afternoon, taking 2nd behind his teammate, while Jorge Lorenzo ended the session in 3rd, just over a second slower than Stoner. Lorenzo heads up the Yamaha armada, with Cal Crutchlow faster than his Monster Tech 3 teammate Andrea Dovizios, the Englishman taking 4th and the Italian 5th. Alvaro Bautista led the satellite Hondas, taking 6th ahead of Stefan Bradl, while Valentino Rossi was the fastest of the Ducatis, his 8th place time over two seconds slower than Stoner.

With Kurt Busch in the Furniture Row Racing No. 78 for the remainder of the season, Phoenix Racing went with a new paint scheme for its first race with Busch in another car.
This week at Charlotte, the red No. 51 has a smiley face on the hood and the sides of the car. Why? We'll let car owner James Finch explain:
"If you wreck 25 cars this year, you haven't been smiling much," Finch said. "That's 25 wrecks. I don't think the whole garage has used that much sheet metal this year ? except at Daytona and Talladega.
"Twenty-five wrecks would make anyone dizzy. For a small team to repair 25 wrecks and show up for every race on time, I think they did a great job."
Regan Smith, who was in the No. 78 until Busch replaced him this week, was scheduled to be in the car this weekend, but he was called into action over at Hendrick Motorsports after Dale Earnhardt Jr. was diagnosed with a concussion. That opened the spot for AJ Allmendinger, who is making his first start after completing NASCAR's Road to Recovery program.
Allmendinger was suspended just before the July Daytona race after failing a drug test after the Kentucky race, and was replaced in the Penske Racing No. 22 by Sam Hornish and eventually released from his contract at Penske. He qualified 38th for Saturday night's race.
Still in 12th in the Chase points standings after Sunday's win at Talladega, Matt Kenseth's championship hopes are pretty much nonexistent in his final season at Roush Fenway Racing, and Kenseth said Tuesday that the win was integral in helping him feel better about he and the team's split when they officially part ways in six more races.
"Well, it's made me feel a little bit better about certain things," Kenseth said."I mean, it's really important for me to finish this thing off on a high note.It would just break my heart if the thing was broken when I left.So I certainly didn't want that."
"And we had a really rough few weeks in The Chase with parts breaking and following off and not getting good finishes and not running good and everybody was getting close to being at each other's throats and things like that. So it's important for me to try to really try to keep that whole unit as a cohesive front-running championship-contending unit. So I'm hoping in the next six weeks we can continue this momentum, hoping we can get another win or two and finish as high as we can in the points and end this thing on a high note."
Kenseth was the series' best driver at restrictor plate tracks this season, also winning the Daytona 500 and finishing third twice. Drivers rarely move on to other teams when things are going well, so that's one reason that Kenseth became just the third different Chase driver, along with Tony Stewart in 2008 and Kurt Busch last year, to win a Chase race the season before leaving for a new team. But Kenseth said that once he met with Joe and JD Gibbs, his decision to take over the driving duties of the No. 20 wasn't as difficult as you might have expected.
"When I've talked to Joe and JD and went and saw some of their stuff and spent some time with them, I just really felt like that was the right place for me," Kenseth said. "I felt really comfortable with everything. I feel really good about their stuff, when you watch how good all their cars perform on the racetrack and how many races they win and all that kind of stuff, I just felt like that was the place for me."
"It really wasn't as hard or I wasn't probably as conflicted as one might think."

Jeff Gordon has kept his promise.
Gordon said earlier this year that he would grow a mustache like the one he spored as a young driver in the early 1990s if his team made the Chase. He made the Chase Saturday night at Richmond thanks to a second place finish and Kyle Busch's misfortune.
During Chase media days on Wednesday, Gordon had sported a full facial stubble look, saying that yes, everything but the mustache would be clean shaven before race festivities kicked off at Chicagoland Speedway. And there it is.

With only a week's worth of growth, it's not as awesome as, say, this picture. But hopefully Gordon keeps the stache long enough to rival not only the look from 20 years ago, but Junior's beard's status as the most famous facial hair in modern-day NASCAR.
