Time again for a new ESPN "winners" ad. So far, with Jimmie Johnson ("so long, pricklebear"), Brad Keselowski (the Thanksgiving nap) and Carl Edwards (cannibalism!), these ads have been strong, and this one's no exception. We can see a couple catchphrases in here; Hamlin can look forward to fans shouting "Hola, seor Denny!" for the next few months. Enjoy.

Audi RS5 Cabriolet
| Posted on 09.7.2012 10:00 by Justin Cupler | |
Back when Audi was planning the RS5, they promised us a convertible model. Now that the RS5 is alive, well, and leading the British cops on its fastest chase ever, we are anxiously awaiting the RS5 Cabriolet. While there is some time to wait, Audi is at least gracing us with all of the RS5 Cabriolet’s ins and outs.
As you can expect, the Cabriolet takes most of its queues from the hardtop model, but is does have its own little styling differences ? besides the rag top, of course. With fierce competition coming from BMW and Mercedes, how well can this newcomer in the performance convertible realm really do? We’re going to into all of the specifications and features that Audi has graced us with and give you a full review of what to expect from this new model.
Click past the jump to read the full review and see how it stacks up to the competition.

Did we learn anything about Bristol?s changes in Wednesday?s Truck race?

Wednesday night's Truck Series race at Bristol was the first glimpse ? the exit polls, if you will ? at the changes that Bristol Motor Speedway made over the spring and summer. And if you were expecting something completely different than the racing that we saw in March, well, you're probably looking for a different set of results.
After the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series races in March, Speedway Motorsports Inc. Bruton Smith promised drastic changes to the track, and those changes involved the grinding of the top groove of the track to reduce the banking from 30 to 28 degrees. When the track was repaved, progressive banking was added, allowing cars to sometimes run three-wide in the corners. And that progressive banking meant that the preferred line on the track wasn't on the bottom, but rather smack dab in the middle.
Wednesday night, Timothy Peters led all 204 laps en route to the win. Yes, you read that correctly. Peters, who started second on the inside of the track, snuck ahead of Cale Gale off of turn 2 on the first lap and no one ever mounted a serious challenge. On the race's ensuing restarts, Peters picked the outside line, and was able to pinch the second place truck down in the corner after the wave of the green flag and once he was clear, was unbeatable.
And that was the story of the evening. While the lane nearest the wall was out of play, the middle (well, the outside) groove was still the preferred line around the track, making passes on the bottom of the banking incredibly tough, and sometimes downright impossible.
Was it a bad race, especially because there wasn't a pass for the lead? No, not at all. In fact, the trucks stacked up side-by-side lap after lap because of the low-groove difficulties made made for an entertaining race -- if you liked what you saw in March, anyway. Yeah, there was your typical short track contact, but there was no rooting and gouging for position on the bottom of the track like at Bristol 10 years ago. It felt like watching any other Bristol race in the last five years. Heck, if you weren't aware of the changes, you may not have known there were any made.
Will we see more of the same Friday and Saturday? We're about to find out.
Denny Hamlin takes Bristol for his third win of the season

Denny Hamlin, Chase points leader?
If you were to think of Denny Hamlin's 2012, it wouldn't be crazy if the first thing that came to mind was Hamlin's fiery escapades at Michigan at Watkins Glen, summer issues that resulted in 34th place finishes.
But that would be overlooking Hamlin's wins at Phoenix, the second race of the season and at Kansas, the eighth. And Saturday night at Bristol, the 24th race of the season, Hamlin grabbed win number three, meaning that as of now, he's set to start the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series tied atop the standings.
Recently, Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson have been the two most heavily mentioned as favorites for the 10 race dash for the championship, and last week at Michigan, Greg Biffle made it a point to include his team in the championship discussion. Now? Hamlin should be included in the discussion too.
[Related: Tony Stewart flings helmet at Matt Kenseth]
In the 16 races since that Kansas win, Hamlin has three second place finishes, but also has six finishes outside the top 20 thanks to a myriad of problems and circumstances -- a primary reason he hasn't been in the "serious contender" championship discussion. And early in Saturday's race, an incident on pit road made seven in 17 outside the top 20 look like a strong possibility.
While leaving his pit stall, Hamlin's made contact with Landon Cassill as Cassill was entering his. Cassill's left front bumper smashed directly into Hamlin's right front tire. The impact, while at low speeds, was a direct hit. Soon after, Hamlin radioed to his crew that he was afraid that the toe had been bent.
But on the ensuing restart, Hamlin held his ground, and over the next few hundred laps, slowly crept up through the top 10. If the toe had been bent, it certainly wasn't affecting the performance of his car. On lap 461, thanks to a two tire stop, Hamlin passed Carl Edwards (who was trying to stretch his fuel mileage after deciding to not pit with the lead with 85 laps to go) for the lead and quickly pulled away.
[Related: Danica Patrick wrecked again at Bristol]
Yeah, it was a fairly anticlimactic final 40 laps of a race that started with a Ken Schrader gesture and featured a Tony Stewart helmet toss and a Danica Patrick finger wag, but that was a-OK for Hamlin, who called the win the biggest of his career. Plus, it overshadowed his dancing performance of "The Wobble" in the pre-race driver introductions, which led Hamlin to say after the race that "if you're going to dance like a dumbass you have to drive like a badass." (Bristol is the only track on the Sprint Cup circuit where the drivers pick their own entrance music and have a chance to say something to the crowd.)
And that, he did. Given the parity throughout the Chase field, Hamlin may want to consider dancing during driver intros before every race.

Mercedes-Benz SLS 63 AMG "MC700" by mcchip-dkr
| Posted on 09.5.2012 17:00 by Simona | |
In its standard version (not the new GT one), the SLS 63 AMG delivers a total of 571 HP. This amount of power is good, but where Mercedes feared to go in terms of pushing the power, German tuner, mcchip-dkr, dove headfirst into it. Their new tuning package is called the MC700, which clearly hints at the vehicle’s upgraded power level.
The new MC700 compressor kit is available in two upgrade levels. The first one includes a mechanically driven compressor and a performance-enhancing high-end exhaust system developed in cooperation with Capristo Exhaust Systems. These additions get the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine’s power level up to an impressive 680 HP and 567 lb-ft of torque. The extra 109 HP will set customers back 69,900 Euros (about $88,150 at the current exchange rates).
The second upgrade level will only be available for the export versions and include additional sports catalyzers and friskier stage 4 software. If a customer is willing to pay 78,999 Euros (about $99,600 at the current rates), then they will be privy to a total of 706 HP and 584 lbs-ft.

Pons Tuenti Team Drops Appeal Over Espargaro/Marquez Clash At Barcelona
The Marquez/Espargaro incident in the Barcelona Moto2 race is at an end. The Pons 40 HP Tuenti team has decided not to take their appeal on the incident to the CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and to accept the decision of the FIM Stewards. The decision of Pol Espargaro's team not to take the case to the CAS means that the case is officially closed, and Marc Marquez will not face a penalty over the clash. The one minute penalty initially imposed on Marquez by Race Direction has now been officially consigned to the history books, and Marquez retains his 48-point lead in the Moto2 title race.

Wild Card Race: Ryan Newman is in, for now
With four races to go before the Chase, Marcos Ambrose's win vaulted him into serious Chase discussion, but Ryan Newman was also a big beneficiary of Watkins Glen's final lap craziness.
And so too, believe it or not, was Jeff Gordon, who found himself in the wall on the final turn of the race after spinning out because of oil on the track.
"I went to the outside and hit it (oil on the track) and just spun right out," Gordon, who ended up 21st, said. "I'm just really disappointed because we fought hard today to come back to get what was going to be a pretty nice finish. The thing is, I'm just disappointed at how hard we had to fight for the position. The points are going to be what the points are going to be. We can't control what other people do."
"We can only control what we do. And today, we took back control when we got off, and we were coming. It's just unfortunate that that gets taken away from you because NASCAR doesn't want to end the race under yellow. I understand. You want to keep it entertaining and give the winner a shot at it but there are a lot of other things going on our there too. I think they completely disregarded that and hey, it's over now. We'll move on."
One of the other people that Gordon was referring to was Kyle Busch, who was the leader as the white flag lap. Busch, now one of five drivers with a win outside the top 10, looked poised for win number 2 and a steady grip on the final Wild Card spot until that crazy final lap that saw him end up seventh.
""Yeah, (Busch winning) would have impacted it in a big way," Gordon said. "Again, we can't control what other people do. We can only control what we do. And we're not wishing bad luck on anybody. We're trying to go out there and race as hard as we can and get the best finishes that we can get."
If drivers are tied for a Wild Card position via wins, the tiebreaker becomes points position, and thanks to his 11th place finish, Newman tentatively holds the tiebreaker amongst the five with a win, as they are ordered like this:
13. Newman, -49 points from 10th.
14. Busch, -55
15. Gordon, -59
17. Ambrose, -93
18. Logano, -106
Winless Carl Edwards still lurks in 12th, 43 points out of the top 10, and imagine the craziness that could ensue if Edwards wins at Michigan next week? The lack of separation between Newman, Busch and Gordon at this point may mean that avoiding a bad finish is as important as getting that second win, while Ambrose and Logano are strictly needing another win.
We're looking (for a win) next week," Ambrose, who is still searching for his first oval win, said. "We got the pole at Michigan (in June). We were running top five all day there. No reason we can't go there and surprise them again."

2012 Brno Moto3 Race Report: Folger And Salom A Thorn In The Side Of The Championship Leaders
There is no doubt that the 2012 season summer break has given some riders like the Spaniard Luis Salom and German rider Jonas Folger just what they needed – plus machinery in Folger’s case - to believe in themselves as genuine Moto3 winners.
After finishing sixth in the standings last year, this year's winner of the Czech Moto3 Grand Prix Jonas Folger trusted his instincts very unsuccessfully at the start of 2012 season. Riding the all new Ioda Moto3 machine, the winner of the soaking wet 2011 British GP finished just one single race out of nine in the current season. This poor performance mainly came from the Ioda suffering from mechanical failures with terrifying frequencey, making a nightmare of what should have been a challenging season for the German rider.
Folger was nowhere near the front, in deep contrast indeed to some better results from less experienced new winners like Romano Fenati or Louis Rossi. It seemed there was no way out of such a frustrating situation, not until Spanish Moto3 Mapfre Aspar team decided to look for a new rider in the middle of the season.
