Cadillac CTS-V Silver Frost and Stealth Blue Limited Edition
| Posted on 02.15.2013 14:00 by Simona |
It looks like Cadillac is preparing to say "Good Bye" to the current-generation CTS in a very nice way: with two special editions based on the CTS Coupe and V-Series models. First there will be a CTS-V Coupe Silver Frost Edition limited to just 100 units and the second a Stealth Blue edition. Both new editions will arrive in March.
As their name suggest, the two new special editions will be pretty much about the exterior colors, with no updates under the hood. The Silver Frost edition will also get a new set of high-polished or satin-graphite wheels combined with brake caliper in yellow or red. On the interior the only updates will be limited to a suede-covered steering wheel and shift knob.
The Stealth Blue will get a dark finish grille, plus a new set of wheels painted in satin and combined with silver calipers. On the interior it will add Recaro performance seats.
Hit the jump to read more about the Cadillac CTS-V Silver Frost and Stealth Blue Limited Edition.

2013 Season Preview: No. 9 Jeff Gordon

As we count down to the 2013 Daytona 500, we're also counting down how we think the Chase will play out this season as predicted by Nick Bromberg, Jay Busbee, Jay Hart and Geoffrey Miller. So sit back, relax, and watch the 2013 Chase unfold before your very eyes. Though you should be warned, we picked Carl Edwards to win last year.
2012 Finish: 10th. Two wins (Pocono and Homestead)
2013 Predictions:
Bromberg: 12th
Busbee: 8th
Hart: 7th
Miller: 9th
Crew Chief: Alan Gustafson
When we last saw Gordon: He went to victory lane in the final race of the season and the race that turned out to be the swan song for Gordon's career-long partnership with sponsor DuPont. Before that, he was crashing Clint Bowyer in retaliation for contact the two made while racing together at Phoenix. And we don't need to explain that one again, do we?
Big Question for 2013: It's the question that's been omnipresent for the past five or six years, maybe even longer. Will Jeff Gordon win a fifth title? He had plenty of speed to put together a championship season in 2012, it's just that lady luck wasn't on his side. And as any driver can attest, you have to catch some breaks in addition to being fast to win a championship.
Track most likely to win at: Martinsville, provided that David Reutimann doesn't bring out a late race caution as Gordon is racing side-by-side with Jimmie Johnson for the race lead and on the ensuing restart, Clint Bowyer and Ryan Newman don't line up behind him.
Track most likely to require a miracle to win at: Well, Gordon has won at every Cup Series track except Kentucky (two starts) and his worst performing track statistically is Talladega, where he's won six times. So we'll roll with Texas, where he's only won once and his average finish is only marginally better.
How Gordon could win the Chase: The speed that Gordon showed last season was an obvious indication that Gordon still has the ability and the equipment to compete for a title. And if you're a believer that breaks tend to balance themselves out over time, given that speed, a reversal of fortunes in 2013 may turn out to be all that Gordon needs.
How Gordon couldn't: Maybe that luck isn't fluky after all. Hard to fathom, given the nature of many of the things that felled Gordon's chances in numerous races last year, but it's not totally out of the question.
A Haiku:
Oh no, where is Clint?
Is he on the boat with me?
I better go hide

2012 season in review: Brad Keselowski
Vitals: 1st in the points standings. 5 wins, 13 top 5s, 23 top 10s. 1 DNF.
Moment to remember: Duh.
We're also going to choose a race win though, and for that, we've got many options. But let's go with Brad Keselowski's victory at Talladega in the spring, one that saw him defy conventional wisdom as he and Kyle Busch headed towards the checkered flag.
That conventional wisdom said that Busch, who was on Keselowski's bumper as the back half of a two-car tandem out in front of the field, would have the upper hand. He would have the momentum whenever he decided to pull out of line and would be the first to cross the finish line.
[Slideshow: Top 5 NASCAR stories of 2012]
Not so, said Keselowski. While the duo was in turn three, Keselowski darted from the high line towards the low line very quickly. By the time Busch reacted to Keselowski's move, contact between the two cars was already broken. Busch couldn't get back to Keselowski's bumper.
Moment to forget: Keselowski and electronic fuel injection, which was introduced into the Sprint Cup Series this year, haven't always been on the best of terms. Heck, Keselowski was even fined for talking about it in 2011.
So maybe Keselowski's early season EFI issues were a case of the EFI gods getting back at him. At Phoenix, his car burped, but he still finished fifth. (That's the race that Tony Stewart lost the lead because of EFI issues) And then at Las Vegas, Keselowski had a contending car, but finished eight laps off the pace because his car couldn't get going after a restart even though there was fuel still in the tank.
After Vegas, Keselowski was 22nd in the points standings. But he won a week later at Bristol and vaulted all the way back up to 14th.
The wrap: Yeah, we were deprived of a potentially epic championship battle over the final two races thanks to Jimmie Johnson's troubles, but that doesn't make Keselowski's accomplishment any less worthy. Head-to-head, he and Johnson each took four of the first eight Chase races, including two wins apiece.
Then when Johnson had those troubles, Keselowski pounced, finishing 6th amidst the carnage at Phoenix and a comfortable 15th when he knew he could safely top off for fuel at Homestead. Plus, Keselowski avoided the detrimental finish that can doom so many drivers in the Chase, as that 15th at Homestead ended up being his worst finish of the season.
[Related: Random facts about the 2012 Sprint Cup season]
Keselowski and company played the Chase to perfection, but in reality they just continued a run that ended up lasting the final 20 races of the season. In the Chase, Keselowski scored 391 points over 10 races, which is an average finish of fifth with no laps led. In the 10 races before the Chase, Keselowski scored 378 points, just one position lower when you average it out. Had Keselowski not been caught up in a crash at the Bristol night race, the track where he scored his first win of the season, that 10 race segment could have been better than his Chase.
So yeah, it was a pretty remarkable 2012 for Brad Keselowski. Congrats, champ.

Repsol Media Press Release Interview: Dani Pedrosa, On Sepang 1, Added Weight, and Marc Marquez
As is their custom, the Repsol Media Service released a press release interview with Dani Pedrosa after the first MotoGP test of the year at Sepang. In the interview, Pedrosa talks about his experience of the first test, the things he expects Honda to improve for the next test, and the problems created by the weight increase from 157kg to 160kg and the decrease in engine allocation, requested by the MSMA, from 6 to 5 engines. He also has a word for his new teammate Marc Marquez. The interview follows below:
“As long as there is a desire to take steps forward, you can always improve”
Repsol rider has started 2013 motivated and focused on riding this season as strongly as in the second half of 2012.
Dani Pedrosa finished the first official test of the year at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia as the dominant rider over the three days. The Repsol Honda team rider never ceded the top spot on the time sheets and continually had the best time of the entire grid. Satisfied with this first test, Pedrosa is happy to be back to work on the Honda RC213V in 2013 and also has compliments for new teammate, Marc Márquez.
Three days of testing, and you had the fastest time in all of them. Are you happy with how things went in Sepang?

2012 season in the rear view: Clint Bowyer
Vitals: 2nd in the points standings. 3 wins, 10 top 5s, 13 top 10s. 4 DNFs.
Moment to remember: Clint Bowyer's first season at Michael Waltrip Racing netted him his first road course victory and (surprisingly) his first victory at a 1.5 mile track in the Sprint Cup Series.
In June at Sonoma, Bowyer started sixth and was damn good, leading 71 of the race's 110 laps. He had Kurt Busch alongside him and Tony Stewart behind him when a caution to bring out a green, white, checkered restart flew, but easily pulled away from Stewart and Busch over the final two laps for the win.
In the fall race at Charlotte, Bowyer took the lead on lap 310 from Greg Biffle and made it to the end on fuel for the win. The victory moved Bowyer to within 28 points of leader Brad Keselowski with five races to go.
Moment to forget: This is only here because of the impact it had on Bowyer's Chase chances, because this sure as hell isn't a forgettable moment.
After Bowyer and Jeff Gordon made contact racing for position, Gordon took matters into his own hands (car? fender?) and took out Bowyer. And then that led to one of the greatest garage sprints in NASCAR history.
Bowyer left Phoenix 52 points behind Brad Keselowski, mathematically out of championship contention.
The impact of Gordon's retaliation to Bowyer's championship hopes was an afterthought to the chaos that had occurred. But when Jimmie Johnson had his issue at Homestead, that allowed Bowyer to slip into second place behind Keselowski.
Bowyer was running in the top 10 at the time of his contact with Gordon, and by virtue of his 28th place finish, likely lost about 20 points. His chances going into Homestead would have been slim, and he wouldn't have caught Keselowski regardless, but Bowyer would have been at the championship press conference and in the discussion. Instead, while he was storyline 1A at Homestead thanks to the conflict, his championship hopes were an afterthought.
The wrap: Speaking of afterthoughts, when we look back on the 2012 season in five or 10 years, will people instinctively think that Johnson finished second to Keselowski? That's not discounting anything that Bowyer did -- what he accomplished with a new team and the improvement that Michael Waltrip Racing made is one of the best stories of the year.
It's just that the championship battle moments, the duel at Texas, the comeback at Kansas, the turning point at Phoenix, all involved Keselowski and Johnson. Yeah, even the most casual fans of NASCAR will remember Bowyer for what happened at Phoenix, but hopefully they'll remember that he finished second too.

Want to sponsor Junior? There?s space available on his car

Alright Junior Nation, this is your chance to get your name on your idol's car. Of course, it will cost you millions of dollars, but primary sponsorship of the most popular driver EVAR isn't free. You certainly didn't think that, did you?
Oh, these races are also towards the end of the year. You could be on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car as he goes for his first Sprint Cup title. Historic.
On Wednesday, Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick said that 13 races were available after the summer for Junior's Sprint Cup Series No. 88. They're not worried about filling those races at all, so if you better jump at this opportunity, especially if you present Hendrick with the 'right' deal.
?We?ve got a lot of good opportunities and the way we?re positioned, our car is covered until the end of the summer,? Hendrick said Wednesday during the Sprint Media Tour. ?I?m looking for the right deal, not any deal. If I wanted any deal, I would put ?Hendrick cars? on it. ? I have no worries about that car having a full deal come the end of the year.?
Oh, and you must be willing to commit to a long-term deal as well. For the other 24 points races of the season, Junior's car is sponsored by Diet Mountain Dew and the National Guard. The Guard operates on one year contracts, and according to Sporting News, the cost of its sponsorship (including sponsor activation) was a cool $26.5 million for 16 races last year.
[Related: NASCAR superstar Danica Patrick is a fierce rival of new beau]
Junior isn't alone in the "high profile driver seeking additional primary sponsorship to fill out the season" category. Tony Stewart is there too, as he said on Monday that his team was looking for primary sponsorship for eight to nine races for the rest of the season. Like Hendrick, Stewart didn't seem too concerned that there was available real estate on both his and Ryan Newman's cars at various points in the season.
Why? Likely because the market rate for sponsorship -- especially for high profile drivers -- is higher than the costs of running a race team. Yes, teams like Hendrick and Stewart-Haas have larger operations, and therefore, larger expenses, than say, Joe Nemechek, who runs his own team on a shoestring budget, but it's also Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. There's a lot of power in three Sprint Cup Series titles and 10 consecutive Most Popular Driver awards.
So when you combine a still-recovering economy with the rising costs of operating a championship level Cup team, openings aren't all that unfathomable. But both Hendrick and Stewart-Haas are also not in the position of taking whatever they can get to simply have a sponsor on the car for a reduced rate. There's no other reason to explain they keep rebuffing our FromTheMarbles.com sponsorship attempts, though it certainly doesn't hurt that their team owners also have deep pockets either.
?If I?m going to dilute it, I might as well take it myself. I spend $90-100 million dollars a year in advertising (for my dealerships), why not do it myself?" Hendrick said. "It makes more sense to me and so I?m not concerned. ? If I had a car I had to worry about sponsorship on, it ain?t Dale Junior's car.?

2013 Season Preview: No. 8 Clint Bowyer

2012 Finish: 2nd. Three wins (Sonoma, Richmond and Charlotte)
2013 Predictions:
Bromberg: 7th
Busbee: 6th
Hart: 10th
Miller: 10th
Crew Chief: Brian Pattie
When we last saw Bowyer: He was capitalizing on Jimmie Johnson's rear gear issues at Homestead to finish second in the points standings by a single point. And just before that, he was darting through the garage in search of Jeff Gordon and team after Gordon wrecked him at Phoenix. Hindsight is always 20/20, but given the events at Phoenix, it's fair to wonder if those events at Phoenix cost Bowyer more of a shot at the championship than we realized.
Big Question for 2013: Does the curse of second place exist? In the Chase era, the highest finish in the following season for a second place driver has been fourth, and that was Matt Kenseth in 2007. Of the nine second place finishers before Bowyer, four have missed the Chase. There's no common thread to why second place drivers tend to go backwards (other than, of course, there's not much room to move forward), but an almost 50 percent missed Chase rate is something.
Track most likely to win at: Richmond. It's Bowyer's best track, and he also finished seventh there in the spring.
Track most likely to require a miracle to win at: Did you know that Bowyer's win at Charlotte in October was his first win at a 1.5 mile track of any kind in the Sprint Cup Series? Though we'll follow that up by saying Darlington, which isn't a 1.5 mile track, but it's fractionally close. In seven Darlington starts, Bowyer has just one top 10.
How Bowyer could win the Chase: Avoid getting wrecked on purpose in the penultimate race of the Sprint Cup Season. OK, so it's not as simple as that, but Bowyer's Chase was pretty close to the formula that's needed to get it done. He had a win and was consistently in the top 10, it's just that finishes of 23rd (Talladega) and 28th (Phoenix) got in the way. Repeat that performance and turn one of the finishes in the 20s into a top 10, and voila.
How Bowyer couldn't: The curse of second place does exist and Bowyer takes a large step backwards a la Carl Edwards last season. Or that the leaps forward that Michael Waltrip Racing took last season aren't sustainable, and Bowyer and Pattie can't find the speed that they had last year.
A Haiku:
Hey Carl, got advice?
I gotta avoid this curse.
I can't miss the Chase.

Kevin Swindell wins fourth straight Chili Bowl Nationals
Kevin Swindell is doing what no driver has ever done before at the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals.
The indoor midget race in Tulsa, Oklahoma, once again attracted the likes of Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne after they got done with preseason testing at Daytona, but it was Swindell who dominated the show from the front row, becoming the first driver to win four straight Chili Bowls.
Heck, he was the first driver to win consecutive Chili Bowls. His dad Sammy, who has five titles to his credit, finished second.
As for Stewart and Kahne, they weren't so lucky. Stewart finished a lap down in 15th after starting 12th in Saturday night's A-Main. Kahne didn't make the A-Main and neither did Justin Allgaier.
Kyle Larson, a development driver for Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing who has made four starts in the Camping World Truck Series last year and won the K&N East title, might have been Kevin Swindell's biggest challenger. However after spinning out as the two were battling for the lead early in the race on lap 18, Larson's night ended after another caution.

Chaotic First Day of CRT Test at Sepang Sees Little On-Track Action
The first day of the extra two-day test for the CRT teams laid on to allow the teams using the new Magneti Marelli spec ECU has been almost entirely wasted. A lack of parts and above all, a lack of data with the new system meant that the day was spent mostly in the garage, with very few laps turned out on the track.
Only CAME Ioda's Danilo Petrucci got in any serious track time, the Italian posting a total of 27 laps. All of those laps were set without any assistance from the electronics, however: with no data, the team had no base set up to work from, and Petrucci was lapping without any electronic aid. "It's really hard to ride a bike without any electronic controls," Petrucci posted on Twitter afterwards, a fact that is borne out by his times. Petrucci's fastest lap was a 2'06.841, two seconds slower than his best time from the race weekend at Sepang, and four seconds behind the best CRT time set back in October of last year.
Former NASCAR driver Tyler Walker arrested after multi-state high speed chase
Former NASCAR driver Tyler Walker was arrested in Utah on Wednesday after a three-state high speed police chase.
Walker, who was suspended by NASCAR in 2007 for violating its substance abuse policy, was caught speeding in Nevada, and after crossing into Arizona and into Utah while pursued by police, he was arrested six miles into Utah after police laid down spike strips to stop his car.
But the chase didn't end there. Walker then fled on foot and authorities then apprehended him. "During an inventory of the vehicle, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and alcohol were found,? Utah Highway Patrol Corporal Todd Johnson told the the St. George (Utah) Spectrum.
Walker and passenger Raelie McDonald were found to be under the influence and arrested on numerous drug and alcohol charges. They could face charges in all three states. Walker's bail is set at more than $18,000 and was booked into the (no lie) Purgatory Correctional Facility.
In July, a video of Walker throwing a massive tirade after disagreeing with a call at Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania surfaced. In the video (that is incredibly not safe for work or some ears) Walker spews many obscenities towards race control and a scuffle involving his crew and security then ensued.
During his NASCAR career, Walker ran 28 races (19 in the Nationwide Series and nine in the Camping World Truck Series) and scored one Truck Series top 10, an eighth place finish at Martinsville in 2007.

MV Agusta Brutale 1090
| Posted on 02.10.2013 00:42 by Sulthoni , Serafim |
The MV Agusta Brutale is the strongest motorcycle in Agusta?s lineup. The motorcycle is not only the strongest as it?s also one of the best looking models designed by the Italian manufacturer.
Among the most attractive visual details you?ll find the modern lighting elements which include day running lights arranged symmetrically on either side of the dashboard cover. We also like the aggressive frame, the sculpted fuel tank and the dynamic tail. Compared to the previous generation, the 2012 model comes with a new pair of wheels which are about 1.500 grams lighter than the old ones.
The two new double exhaust silencers, now come with tapered ends, featuring a tasty diagonal cut reminiscent of American dragsters.
In terms of power, the motorcycle is equipped with a strong 1,078 cc, four cylinder engine paired with a six speed transmission.

How would you vote in the Sprint Unlimited fan voting?

Not only does the Sprint Unlimited have a new name (from the Budweiser Shootout) but it could feature some new wrinkles that will be determined by fan voting.
NASCAR and Sprint announced that fan voting through the official NASCAR app for smartphones or via a link on NASCAR.com will determine the race's segment distances, type of pit stop after the first segment and if any cars will be eliminated after the second segment.
The choices for race segments are broken out into 40 laps/20 laps/15 laps, 35/30/10 and 35/20/20. That voting will end on February 13th, the Wednesday before the race.
The voting for pit stops and eliminations will close during the race. For the pit stop after the first segment, fans can vote for no mandatory pit stop, a mandatory (at least) two tire pit stop or a mandatory four tire pit stop. And on the elimination side of things, the options are either no cars eliminated, two, four, or six.
If I was the grand poobah of all of this, I would go with the 35/30/10 format. We all know how wild restrictor plate finishes can be over a short sprint (pun!) and since this is an exhibition race, the final segment might as well be as short as possible. As far as the pit stop goes, let's say four tires, because again, this is an exhibition race. There's no place here for strategy.
And on the side of eliminations, let's go with the max of six. With the new format of the bumpers on the cars, it's entirely possible that six cars could be eliminated in the form of a crash before we get to the final segment anyway. But if we've avoided the big one(s) up to that point, it's a great way to prevent teams from riding around in the back. If you can recall, Jimmie Johnson did a pretty good job of sandbagging in the All-Star Race in May.
You know what would also be an awesome fan voting category too? Best on-track obstacle. Fans could choose between Jet Dryer on Fire in Turn 3, Pothole in Turns 1 and 2, Chicago Inflatable Orange, Pocono Deer or Pocono Groundhog among others. How cool would that be?
What format would you vote for? And what obstacle would you pick? Drop us a line in the comments.
