Saturday?s Bristol race on alternate channels in six markets

It's the time of the year where preseason football and NASCAR collide, and on Saturday night, six local ABC affiliates will be airing the NASCAR race on different channels.
Saturday's Bristol race, scheduled to be on ABC, will be shown on ESPN in Buffalo, NY, Tulsa, OK, Weslaco, TX and Quincy IL because of preseason games. In Detroit, the race will be shown on the ABC affiliate's digital tier 2 channel, and will be joined in progress on ABC after the Lions game is over, and Rochester NY's ABC channel will show the race in its entirety on its digital channel.
In Little Rock, AR, Omaha, NE and Corpus Christi, TX, the race broadcast will begin at 6:30 local time as the local news will be aired in place of NASCAR Countdown.
So if you're in one of those markets and flip to ABC expecting the race. Don't panic, or maddeningly call your local affiliate. The race will be on. You may just have to change the channel.
Martin Truex and NAPA re-up with MWR for three more years

Though he was scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season, Martin Truex Jr. wasn't mentioned as a candidate to switch teams for the 2013 season. Why? Because it was a safe assumption that Truex would be staying with Michael Waltrip Racing, as both parties made it clear that they preferred to keep their partnership intact.
On Friday, that assumption became the official truth, as MWR announced that Truex, along with sponsor NAPA Auto Parts, had signed on for three years.
"Re-signing Martin was huge for us," Waltrip said in a release. "We've given him competitive race cars and engines this year and he's been able to showcase his talent. Where I am most proud of Martin is off the track. He has dedicated himself to be a leader in our organization and has accepted his role as an ambassador for our sponsors. His work with NAPA, Toyota, AAA, along with his foundation work, has shown his maturity as a person and he makes me proud."
Truex is currently fifth in the points standings and can clinch his first Chase berth with MWR with 14th-place finish Sunday night at Atlanta. In his first two years at MWR, Truex finished 22nd and 18th in the points standings. Teammate Clint Bowyer, who came to MWR from Richard Childress Racing before 2012, is also poised to make the Chase as well.
NAPA's extension with the team includes all 36 Sprint Cup Series points races, and in this current period of rising competition costs and a sagging economy, will continue to be one of the only companies to sponsor the entire season. (MWR also had sponsor 5-HOUR Energy expand its sponsorship for all but one of Bowyer's 2012 races earlier in the season.)
There's no word if there are any provisions in the new NAPA contract that prohibit commercials featuring Michael Waltrip booty shakes.

BMW M3 by G-Power
| Posted on 08.31.2012 17:00 by Simona | |
While most people are busy speculating as to whether or not the new generation BMW M3 will have two or three turbos to boost its six-cylinder engine, G-Power is skipping the whole standard nonsense by applying a boost of their own to a customer’s E92 M3.
The modifications done on the engine included the addition of a custom crankshaft and pistons from Mahle to increase the engine’s displacement from 4.0 liters to 4.6. A SK III ASA T1-723 supercharger kit, combined with a carbon fiber air box and titanium exhaust system, were installed to increase the engine’s output to an amazing 720 HP. As a result, the car goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 205 mph. Certainly not your average Bimmer.
G-Power proceeded to make the car look the part of a speed demon by adding a lower front spoiler, a new engine bonnet, and a new boot lid all made from carbon fiber. The final additions were a new set of 20" Silverstone Diamond alloy wheels and a Clubsport adjustable coilover kit.

2012 Brno Post-Race MotoGP Test Times At 1pm: Dovizioso Fastest As Rea Makes His Debut
It's been a busy morning of testing so far at Brno, with plenty of action going on on track. Times are a little slower than yesterday's race times, despite the track conditions being slightly better, though the wind has picked up. Various bike swaps are going on, and several riders are being given tryouts, as well as MotoGP safety officer Loris Capirossi taking most of the bikes out for a spin to get a feel for the way the tires respond on the various bikes.
Andrea Dovizioso is the fastest man of the session so far, the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha man already quicker than he was during the race yesterday. Dovizioso's focus at the test was to be improving his corner speed, he said after yesterday's race, and his times suggest he has succeeded. Dani Pedrosa is testing parts on his current Honda, with a new bike due to be tested at Aragon next week. Jorge Lorenzo is testing both the 2012 bike and a completely new 2013 M1 to be used for next season. Both Pedrosa and Lorenzo are several tenths slower than yesterday.

Power Rankings: We toss you a helmetful of good drivers this week
The race is done, and that means it's time for Power Rankings. Each week throughout the season, we'll size up who's rising and who's falling, based on current standings, behind-the-scenes changes, expected staying power, recent history and general gut feelings. It is not scientific, nor is it meant to be. And remember, whoever your favorite driver is, we're biased against him and like someone else better. We continue with a guy who's back:
1. Jimmie Johnson: Remember when everyone said that if Jimmie Johnson was so great, he'd have won at Bristol? Then he won Bristol and shut everyone up. He didn't win this week, but he came awfully close. So, yeah, he can pretty much do whatever you tell him. Hey, Jimmie! If you're so great, take a couple races off in the Chase! Let's see how well you do then! Last week: 2.
2. Denny Hamlin: So, like, two weeks ago everybody was saying Denny Hamlin was done, an afterthought, and now he's being touted as a championship contender. Here's the thing: there's absolutely nothing contradictory in those two statements. NASCAR is so tightly bunched right now that you can go from hero to goat to hero in the space of a fuel run. Last week: 11.
3. Greg Biffle: You know what the tragedy of Biffle winning a championship would be? People would still find a way to call it "the Cup Jimmie or Tony lost," not the Biffle's just desserts. No respect, man, no respect! Though he did make the Chase and still leads the points, so you've got to respect that. Last week: 3.
4. Jeff Gordon: This is the state of NASCAR 2012: One of the hottest drivers on the circuit has a dwindling chance to make the Chase. Yes, the whole season does count; were it not for his early-season stumbles, Gordon would be comfortably ensconced in the Chase picture. As it is, it'll be a nervous few weeks for the 24. Last week: 8.
5. Brad Keselowski: You've got to approve of Keselowski speaking out against both the Hendrick regime and Bruton Smith, even if you don't always agree with what he says. Anybody that busts through the "boys back at the shop" nonsense that most drivers spout when they answer the phone is welcome. Last week: 1.
6. Martin Truex Jr.: There are only two guys in the Chase without a win, and of those two, Truex looks much closer to breaking through than Kevin Harvick. Truex isn't quite championship-caliber yet, but all it takes is a couple wins at the right time, and hey presto: you've been truexed. Last week: 6.
7. Kasey Kahne: Kahne brings home another top 10 and edges closer to snagging that 10th Chase spot. It'll be tough to do, but the way that Tony Stewart has been faltering of late, it could happen. If that happens, expect Kahne to dance like a fool over those bonus points ... because, last year notwithstanding, bonus points really aren't worth all that much right now. Last week: 5.
8. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Nothing much exceptional from Junior this week; a few laps led a decent-enough top-12 finish. He made the Chase, though, which is pretty big news in itself. But his daddy would've made it back in July, of course. We all know that. Last week: 4.
9. Clint Bowyer: Last week I begged Clint Bowyer to do something interesting to give me something to write about. So what does he do? Goes out and has a routine seventh-place finish. Thanks for nothing, Clint. I'll remember this when it's time to do next week's rankings. Last week: 9.
10. Marcos Ambrose: If I were Ambrose and his team, I'd be thinking of every single legal trick I could conceive of to get that second win. How amazing a story would that be if he could leapfrog Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon and Carl Edwards? NASCAR would be ready to kick a kitten, of course, but for Ambrose's sake it'd be pretty sweet. Last week: 10.
11. Matt Kenseth: Kenseth isn't the kind of guy you want to get mad. He seems like he'd remember an insult for a long, long time. Like, say you cut in front of him at the grocery store and take the last six of decent beer. He'd hold that memory for years and years ... until one day you're old and in a hospital bed, and he comes and steals your IV. OK, maybe he wouldn't be cruel like that ... but maybe he would. Last week: 7.
12. Tony Stewart: And here we get to it. Mr. Stewart. No surprise he ended up next to Mr. Kenseth, is it? Got to admit, Tony's helmet-sling was one of the best moments of the NASCAR season. Between that and a shoe, we're starting to run out of non-vital clothing to toss on the track. Someone's going to throw a firesuit, and then it's going to be a nightmare. Last week: 12.
Dropping out of the rankings: Nobody. But Kyle Busch is close to getting back in.
Lucky Dog: Brian Vickers. Seriously, this guy is a model of how to get yourself back into Cup: make the very most of the opportunities you have in front of you. He'll be back, perhaps in an unexpected place. (The #48? Admit it, that'd be unexpected.)
The Carl Edwards DNF: Ryan Newman, who took a severe hit to his Chase chances when he and Juan Pablo Montoya tangled early and Newman ended up on the truck.
All right, your turn. Fire away, friends.

2012 Moscow WSBK Sunday Roundup: A Welcome New Addition
InFront have signed a ten-year deal to race at the short Moscow Raceway circuit. With tales of terrible weather, “Mad Max” drivers outside the circuit and Internet connectivity woes inside, it sounds like it could be potentially disastrous racing there, but today's races showed that all those fears don't matter when the racing gets underway.
