Ducati To Test New Engine At Mugello Next Week

Ducati is to test the latest version of their Desmosedici GP12 engine next week at Mugello. Speaking to MotoMatters.com, Ducati team manager Vitto Guareschi said that Franco Battaini is to start testing the bike, complete with the new engine, next week, in preparation for handing the machine over to Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi for a final test on the Monday after the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. If that test is successful, then both factory Ducati riders will have the new engine available as part of their allocation from Laguna Seca, the race directly after Mugello.

Much rides on the new engine: Valentino Rossi has repeatedly expressed his hopes that the improvements the new engine should offer will allow him to make a big step towards closing the gap with the front runners. That improvement should come from improved driveability, the main focus of development for Filippo Preziosi and the Ducati Corse department. "The aim is to improve the first touch of the throttle," Guareschi said, the area in which the Ducati has suffered the most. "Driveability is very important for the 1000s, even more so than the 800s," Guareschi added. "The 1000s have much more torque than the 800s, which makes it harder for the rider to use the power."

Stop, collaborate and listen: Vanilla Ice will drive the pace car at Pocono

Vanilla Ice will be driving the pace car at Pocono. That's it, end of story.

What, you want more? First off, play the video above. Listen to it. Watch it. REVEL in it. That's the ultimate in '80s cheese, my friends, the last gasp of soulless neon white-boy hip-hop. If you listen closely, you can hear the freight train that is Nirvana bearing right down on Mr. Ice. Anyway, against all odds, Ice has remained working, and he's got a gig in the upcoming Adam Sandler movie "That's My Boy." (Whether that constitutes a step up or a step down from "Ice Ice Baby" is up to you.)

If you want, you can bid on a pace-car ride with fans in his Mustang 5.0. Check out NASCAR.Com/unites for more info. See if he'll let you choose what to put on the radio as you drive.

Tony Stewart on the perfect night at the Prelude to the Dream

I never expected the Prelude to the Dream to be as successful as it's been over the last seven years. During this time, we've raised millions of dollars dedicated to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, wounded soldiers and numerous children's hospitals across the country.

This year we've chosen to partner with Feed The Children. They will be the recipient of our net Pay-Per-View proceeds. Something I learned while working with Feed The Children earlier this year: 16 million children go to bed hungry each night in the United States, and the summer months are extremely tough on these children, as they are out of school for the year and unable to take advantage of the meals provided by schools.

The main reason this event has been so successful is the commitment of the drivers each and every year, and I cannot thank them enough. The media paints a picture that I am the one responsible for the Prelude, but I'm just a very small piece of the puzzle that makes this event so special. There are 27 other drivers that take a full day out of their schedules to come to Eldora the first or second Wednesday every June. It's these guys that deserve the credit. I know that we, as NASCAR drivers, do not get many days off throughout the year, and it's special for me to know that all these drivers commit to coming to the Prelude.

I've been fortunate enough to win the Prelude three times, but those wins aren't what make the Prelude a perfect night. In 2007, I actually got caught up in a wreck and couldn't finish the race. I immediately got on top of my hauler and watched Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon and Carl Edwards battle three-wide for the win. It was some of the best racing I had ever seen at Eldora in my life. It was Jeff's first time on dirt in more than a decade and he didn't miss a beat. That was my perfect night.

When I roam the pits throughout the night and talk to each of the drivers, each one of them has a grin from ear to ear and each tells me, "This is how racing should be," and that's what makes a perfect night. When Jimmie Johnson won in 2010 and got out of the car and gave me hug and said, "This is awesome," that's a perfect night. When I look up in the stands and see 20,000 fans cheering for their favorite driver and enjoying the night, that's what makes my perfect night. Knowing that we can write a check to Feed The Children and help fight hunger across America, that's a perfect night.

Clint Bowyer Racing has dominated the last two events. I think 2012 might be our year. I'm confident that Mark and Josh Richards will give me a great car for tomorrow night. I hope we can get up front and challenge Clint and Kyle and those others that I know will be up there. Wednesday night, first place or last, it will be another perfect night at Eldora.

The live, commercial-free, high-definition broadcast will begin at 8 p.m. EDT (5 p.m. PDT) with an immediate replay. The Prelude To The Dream has a suggested retail price of $24.95 and is available to more than 92 million pay-per-view homes. HBO Pay-Per-View is the leading supplier of event programming in the pay-per-view industry. Ordering information and up-to-the minute racing information is available at either www.PreludeToTheDream.org or www.HBO.com. Updates can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/PreludeToDream and on Twitter at twitter.com/PreludeToDream (@PreludeToDream).

Video: Two Lamborghini Aventadors get some sideways action in a garage

Okay, let’s face it: the Lamborghini Aventador is an amazing supercar and having a chance to see one on the road is pretty rare. Two is even more unlikely. Well, the guys at NueVueProductions are upping the ante by providing a black Aventador and a red Aventador, as well as some sideways action in a garage.

The NueVue crew had the chance to test their brand new D800 camera by shooting some photos of the Aventador. The two cars were provided by Prestige Imports in Miami Beach, Florida, but Prestige may not have been aware that after the photo session was over, the guys thought it was time for a little fun. Check out the video to see what we mean!

As a reminder, the Aventador is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine that delivers a total of 700 HP 8,250 rpm and 509 lb-ft at 5,500 rpm. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 217 mph.

Video: Lamborghini Aventador vs. F16 Fighting Falcon

We’re confident in saying that everyone has seen at least one video of a car being put up against a fighter jet, like our favorite, the Bugatti Veyron vs Eurofighter Typhoon Jet. Well, it was our favorite, until now. A Danish car magazine has put together a winning combination that has stolen the title of the best car vs fighter jet video by pinning a Lamborghini Aventador against an F16 Fighting Falcon. It was a race between a 700 HP supercar and a 125,000 HP jet; a top speed of 217 mph vs. 1,319 mph. It’s a pretty unbalanced match, but the much lighter Aventador still held its own. Besides, with videos like these, the race itself is more important than finding out the winner.

Hit the jump for one more video.
